How To: Install a shift boot

Author: Andrew Revai

1. Remove your Shift Knob Unscrew it from the base

2. You have to remove the center console. Unscrew all the bolts ( Don’t forget the one inside the center armrest.

3. Changing the Brake but is the easiest! Pull off the old one from the base, pull from the handle end, slide the new one on.

4. Once you have removed the console, take the middle console out and flip is upside down, unscrew the shift boot frame, take the frame and the old boot and separate the boot from the little tabs, and remove. REMEMBER THE PLACEMENT OF The BOOT!! The stitching side goes towards the driver!!.

5. Take the new boot and place it over the frame the same way the old one was put on. You may have to bend the tabs open a little to slide the slits on the boots over them. Then press these tabs back against the base of the frame

6. Put the frame back in the center console put the 2 screws back and re-install the Console.

7. IT LOOKS HARDER THAN IT REALLY IS!! JUST LOOK AT THE OLD ONE, and it’s Simple! I’m down to a 10 Minute Job already!!

****A couple of reminders: When Removing the center console, the arm rest section comes first. Don’t forget to disconnect the little Cigartte lighter Clip so that you can move that section out of the car. Also when removing the Center Shifter console. After the screws have been removed, to pull this piece off, you have to grab the edges of the console, at the Right and Left side of the radio area, and pull the FLAPS outwards while pulling the piece out! BE CAREFULL NOT TO SCRATCH YOUR DASH, Put Your fingers on the sharp corners to protect the dash!! There are 2 clips above the radio area that hold this piece in, you can pull!!
