How To: Add color to your H emblems

(original from Slater and later by Glen Morrison)

First off get yourself some vinyl. I was able to get some from a friend that works at a sign shop but you should be able to get some from an art supply place or a place that does vinyl race stripes or lettering on cars trucks whatever which is probably better because hopefully it wont fade. The best part being that you only need a scrap and the color is your choice so be different.

Next remove one of your emblems with a thin flathead screw driver, I covered the screw driver with a rag so not to scratch the paint. The emblem is usually held on with double sided tape and two pins that stick out of the back of it. Mine came off with no trouble but be careful not to break the emblem as they are only plastic and kinda thin. Now clean all the residue off from the back of the emblem and any that is left on your car.

Using your emblem for your template place it over your vinyl and mark off where the pins go through. Using a hole punch punch your respective holes if you don't have access to a punch you can use an exacto or a razor to cut the holes they don't have to be perfect as they will be covered by your emblem. Do a trill fit over the plastic plugs on your car the holes need to be as big as these so the vinyl wont wrinkle when you apply it to the car. When you are satisfied with these holes place your emblem with the pins through the holes in the vinyl with the paper backing facing up so you can trace the outside edge of the emblem.

With a pair of scissors cut the vinyl just inside of your traced line. Do a trial fit on the car with the vinyl and emblem to make sure everything looks okay and you haven't cut it too small before you go ahead and stick it on your car. I also recommend waxing this spot before sticking the vinyl on the car it will help a little to remove it if you change your mind at a latter date.

If everything looks good make sure the area is spotless then remove the paper backing off the vinyl and carefully place it on your car. Remember if there is a scratch or any dirt what so ever you will see it through the vinyl. It's also a good idea to get some double sided tape to help stick your emblem back on but not nessacery as the pins are what really hold it on. Now you can move onto your other badge.
