Materials:
1 Set: Gen1 Altezza tail lights.[IMG]
1 Bottle: Testors brand Transparent Candy Apple model red paint. Paint
#1605. (Wal-Mart in model car section in toys)[IMG]
1 Roll: Scotch brand "safe release" painters masking tape. (Wal-Mart in painters
section) [IMG]
1 Bottle: Plasti-Kote brand car body clear coat. (Pep Boys paint section) [IMG]
1 Bottle: Rubbing alcohol.
Steps:
Step 1. Clean the altezzas with rubbing alcohol.
Step 2. Using the painters tape evenly mask off the bottom section
of the taillight (reverse light).
Step 3. Once the tails are cleaned and evenly masked off, shake the
candy apple paint and begin to apply a (LIGHT) coat onto the un taped
section of the light. And let sit for 2-3 hours or until dry.
Note: Be sure to add very light coats and work up to desired color, I applied
a little to much and have a few bubbles :(
Step 4. Continue adding layers until you reach the desired effect color.
(3 layers seemed to be alright for me. Depends on thickness of coats used.
Lighter is better I learned.)
Step 5. When all coats are dry take your clear coat and put a nice
thin layer on. Continue until desired effect. I did double the number of coats
of paint. (6 in my case).
Step 6. When your clear coat is dry and you got your painting over,
remove the taped off section of your light, LIGHTLY to keep from pulling off
paint layers.
Step 7. Put your lights back onto your car. And enjoy pimping your
new unusual tails.
