HOW TO make a custom trunk mat

Postby Boone » Thu Sep 24, 2009 8:57 am

First Off you need to buy a pack of foam mat. The kind you use to cover you garage floor in-front of your work bench. They look like this.

1) link 4 pieces of rubber floor mat and lay on flat working surface.

2) Remove OEM trunk carpet.

3) Place OEM carpet over rubber mat and trace with felt tip pen.

4) using an exacto / carpet / box cutter knife cut along traced outline.

5) Install in to Sol Trunk

I love this mod as it truly works for protecting you trunk when hauling parts and stuff. I liked this so much I did it in my Explorer

I like it, any idea if they sell it in single sheets big enough to make one?

The seam is what gets to me, I guess it could be glued so it doesn't come apart

It is wedged in there so tightly it does not come apart unless I take it out.

lol, if I had something like that set up, I probably wouldn't be very careful about putting stuff in the back, lol.

Love the how to either way. :applause:
